National Canopy Forum scheduled this December in PUP is postponed.

Dear members and participants,

In solidarity with the significant number of presenters coming from the Visayas and with the national effort to help victims recover from the recent devastation in the said region, the board of PASR on November 11 decided to postpone the National Canopy Forum scheduled this December and move it to February 26 – 28, 2014, our general assembly. We will soon be releasing the program once it has been finalized. Our general assembly/National Canopy Forum in February will be having (1) a seminar on recent theories in the sociology of religion, (2) a seminar on indigenous research methods, and (3) presentation of papers about religion in everyday life, technology, politics, heritage, disasters and death.

For the meantime, we encourage members and presenters to donate goods for the victims of Yolanda in any of the DSWD regional centers, PUP Damayan or any legitimate donation drive efforts by the different universities and NGOs in the country. We also encourage members to volunteer for repacking of relief goods at DSWD-NROC in Pasay (near NAIA 1) or be a psychological first aider (PFA)/marshal/food distributor/Oplan Hatid at the Villamor Airbase (near NAIA 3). PASR is also accepting donations for the victims. You may drop off your donations at the Institute for Cultural Studies (ICS) in PUP Sta. Mesa, Room S415.

We are also planning to give discounts and sponsorship of registration and accommodation fees to participants and presenters coming from Visayas in February.

We believe that you are with us in minding the condition of our Visayan brothers and sisters.

Respectfully yours,

JOHN N. ABLETIS
Secretary, PASR
Faculty, Department of Sociology, PUP
